The Duckworth Worcestershire Trust is looking for new Trustees - can you help?

Are you passionate about the environment in Worcestershire and beyond? Are you seeking a new challenge or a chance to develop new skills?  Are you looking for a way to give something back to your community?

The Duckworth Worcestershire Trust is seeking new Trustees (board members) who share our passion, who can support our ambitions and can help shape our strategic future.  Whether you are an experienced Trustee or someone wanting to take your first step at board level, we want to hear from you.  We are keen to achieve a diverse board of trustees, and we welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds.

This is an exciting time for The Duckworth Worcestershire Trust, which has been involved environmental and social projects throughout Worcestershire for the last 21 years, with the aim of protecting and enhancing the natural and built environment for the benefit of Worcestershire citizens.   However, with urgent wider global issues like the current climate emergency and loss of habitats and their dependent biodiversity, the Trust is keen to focus more energy on tackling these challenges, and to inspire, educate and motivate people to lead a more environmentally friendly life.

New board members will be introduced to our staff and established projects: a team of environmental rangers, which undertakes practical conservation and environmental improvement tasks throughout the county; the Pump House Environment Centre, a hub for environmental activities with an eco-shop and café; and the Worcestershire Resource Exchange (WRE), a community recycling initiative.

We are interested in applications from those who have one or more of the following:

  • experience in financial management to balance commercial viability with our charitable purposes
  • fundraising
  • human resource & legal expertise, particularly surrounding contracts, and compliance
  • a background in digital and marketing experience to reach and support our beneficiaries
  • campaigning and / or enthusiasm about driving change and making a difference in their community through strategic thinking.

Board members are expected to be 18 years or over and work with The Duckworth Worcestershire Trust for a minimum term of three years.  You will be able promote our work and act as an ambassador for the charity, sharing our commitment to a sustainable future for all.  Becoming a charity trustee is an amazing way to give back to the causes you love, connect with your community, boost your career, confidence, happiness, and health. Commitment is approximately one day a month including Board meetings every other month.  Out of pocket expenses will be paid.

If you would like an informal discussion about the organisation or the position, please contact Jilly Duckworth on 07790078885.
