Volunteer Litter Warden Scheme  (VLWS)

Over

the past 20 plus years DWT has amassed an army of over 600 litter heroes,

and this litter picking network has been the equivalent of 11 full time members of staff just litter picking, every year on our streets and in our green spaces..

Thanks and praise to all our volunteer litter wardens achievements - we thank you!

You may already be aware that from 30 September 2023 the DWT Trustee board decided to close the Pump House Environment Centre and cease all activities connected to the project. This included the Litter Equipment Loan Service (LELS) and the Volunteer Litter Warden Scheme (VLWS).

Staff are currently serving their notice before redundancy on 23 December 2023.

As the VLWS project ends and if you are a registered volunteer litter warden; you are welcome to keep your litter picking equipment.

But please contact your local council’s community engagement team for supplies. DWT will not be managing any scheme going forward from 1 October 2023.
