Sunday opening for family cycle ride in Worcester

The Pump House cafe will be celebrating the Transition Worcester family bicycle ride this coming Sunday, the 27th June, by serving tea and cake in the visitors centre from 10am to 2pm.

The cake is made locally, with proper eggs (as opposed to the powdered kind!) so do join us in this unique opportunity to enjoy the Pump House and the glorious Gheluvelt Park Riverside on a Sunday. Please note that the opening hours are slighty different from normal with closing time at 2pm.

Sunday Event opening: 27th June

In celebration of national bike week (19-27 June), Transition Worcester have organised a family fun bike ride around the city of Worcester. The Pump House Environment Centre is hosting the starting point at 10am and for one weekend only will be open on the Saturday and the Sunday, the 26th and 27th of June.

To join the 13 mile bike ride around the city registration is essential, for more information contact Sarah Evans on 01905 722056 or register online; www.worcester.gov.uk/parks.

Half Term Make and Take activity

This half term our activity draws inspiration from the materials reclaimed from local industry and diverted from landfill by the Worcestershire Resource Exchange (WRE). We found happy snapper sweet containers which are just perfect for all sorts of creations. All you need is your imagination. We will provide the materials and inspiration from Wednesday 2nd June to Saturday 5th June from 10am to 3.30pm.It’s is a drop in activity, no booking required, so if busy please be prepared to wait your turn. All children must be accompanied by an adult for supervision. Suitable for all ages and abilities.

Volunteers’ Week 1-7 June. Celebrate with us!

Anda, the DWT Volunteer Coordinator will be joining the Worcester celebrations of Volunteer Week at the Guildhall on the High St on Friday 4th June from 10.30am to 1.30pm.

She’ll be on hand to promote all that our DWT Volunteers do; whether they be  in the Worcestershire countryside with our environmental wardens, in the WRE scrap store, in the Pump House Environment Centre or out on the streets as part of our volunteer litter warden scheme. Do come and say hello!

Volunteer Task Days 2010 May – July

Here is a list of our forthcoming task days up until the end of July.

Please contact James Birbeck (Senior Warden) on 07968477817  if you wish to join the Trust on any of these tasks. Please bring appropriate footwear, warm/waterproof clothing which you dont mind getting dirty or potentially damaged and a packed lunch. Drinks and biscuits will be provided. Sun cream will be both be provided and hopefully necessary. Tools and other equipment are also supplied by the Trust.

Updates of Childrens Activities

The Trust is currently compiling an e-mail list to inform people directly of childrens events and opportunities that we are running.If you would like to be added to this list then please email education@dwt.org.uk with your name and number. Please ensure that the title explains you wish to be added to the e-mail list.

Survival Skills (for children)

Looking for something to do on the 16th April (friday)? are your children aged 4 or over?

Why not join us on our survival skills event at the Pump House Environment Centre.

The activity runs from 10.30 -12 noon and will involve the children helping to make a real fire to boil water for a drink and also a shelter!


Booking is essential on 07970456002 or via email education@dwt.org.uk. Spaces are limited to 12 due to the nature of the event ( only 6 places left!) and parents must remain with the children. The activity costs £2 per child.

Please note that children need to be dressed in outside and  old clothes with suitable footwear (old trainers) or wellies.
