The following events are taking place in and around Worcester in the coming months. Events are organised and run by different organisations - these include Worcester City Council, Worcestershire County Council, community groups and the Duckworth Worcestershire Trust. We are happy to add any organisations events to this list.
 
Children's Activities Summer 2008

On the 24th July get Pond-tastic down at the Pump House and learn the difference between the greater and lesser water boatman. Friday 1st August there's Jammy crafts using materials diverted from landfill by WRE upstairs at the Pump House. Wednesday 6th August there's bug bedlam in Chapter Meadows and on Friday 15th August join us for easy eco art on the Pump House doorstep. Minature gardens are go on Wednesday 20th August. Booking is essential for all activities and there will be a small charge of £2 per child. Parents/Guardians are free and must accompany their children at all times.

Double the Fun during the School Summer Holidays

There's twice the crafts at the Pump House this summer! From Wednesday 23rd July to Saturday 9 August there will be a chance to make and take your own light catcher for your window. Inspiration and materials diverted from landfill by WRE, are provided. For the last 3 weeks of the school summer break you can return to the Pump House and make your own 'Grasshead'. 'Introducing The Grassheads' starts on Wednesday 13th August until Saturday 30th August. No booking is necessary, just drop in during opening hours but please note, if busy you may have to wait your turn. The Pump House is open Wednesday-Saturday 10am to 4pm.

Growing on at the Pump House at Half Term

Did you go plant potty at Easter? If you did then don't forget to return with your decorated plant pot and plant it up with us using our homemade compost and seeds saved from our seed swap. If you missed out then never fear! All materials, diverted from landfill by WRE, will still be available for decorating a plant pot on site.

Curious Creatures at WRE

This month's after school art attack is full of such curious creatures as grinning grasshoppers, frantic frogs, dodgy dragonflies and even tetchy toads! Come along and be creative in the scrap store warehouse between 5pm and 6.30pm. Non members welcome. Small charge of £1 per person. No unaccompanied children. Suitable for ages 5 and above.

Arboretum CSO surgery at the Pump House
DATE: 05/05/2008
All are invited to attend a local policing surgery at the Pump House Environment Centre where CSO Harris will be present to hear local opinions important to residents and will also bring police property marking equipment. There is no need to bring the property itself as it is all done on a unique bar coded sticker. CSO Harris will be in attendance from 2pm to 4pm, Thursday 5th June.

Winning posters on display

St George's C of E Primary school have proved they really do love their park by designing posters for West Mercia Police's 'Love Your Park' campaign. A selection of posters including the two which have been turned into posters for the Gheluvelt Park notice boards are on display in the visitors centre at the Pump House.Displayed until 7 May 08.

Go Plant Potty at the Pump House
DATE: 19/03/2008
Easters free craft delight at the Pump House is all about growing plants. At Easter you are invited to come and decorate a plant pot, then at Half term you can bring it back and plant it up with us! Once you've taken it home and looked after it you can then plant it out in your garden or yard or bring it back to the Pump House and plant it in our garden. Activity starts on Wed 19th March and finishes on Saturday 12th April and is available during opening times 10am to 4pm. The Pump House has a Fair Trade cafe serving hot and cold drinks and light snacks.

Get your thinking hats on!

Another chance to get creative in the WRE warehouse during an after school art attack. Bring your own berets, beanies, bonnets and bobble hats to creat your own adornments for your bonce. Members and non members alike are welcome to get creative and meet the WRE environmentally friendly staff. Inspiration and materials diverted from landfill will be provided. A small fee will be charged of £1 per child and the minimum suitable age is 5 years. No unaccompanied children please. The session starts at 5pm until 6.30pm.

New Ecover Refills on sale

Our ever expanding refill service in the Pump House Environment Centre has several new additions. As well as the usual laundry liquid,fabric conditioner,vegan washing up liquid and multi surface cleaner, we now can offer delicate clothes liquid, toilet cleaner, eucalyptus disinfectant and hand wash refills. Available during opening hours- Wednesday to Saturday 10am-4pm

U3A at the Pump House

Walking for Health on Pitchcroft

The South Worcestershire Walking Network is organising a weekly walk which will start from The Pump House Environment Centre in Gheluvelt Park. The ‘Walking the way to health’ initiative is a national campaign to try and encourage people to get outside, get active and meet new people. The walks are very manageable and between 1 and 3 miles long.
