Volunteer Task Days 2010 May – July

Here is a list of our forthcoming task days up until the end of July.

Please contact James Birbeck (Senior Warden) on 07968477817  if you wish to join the Trust on any of these tasks. Please bring appropriate footwear, warm/waterproof clothing which you dont mind getting dirty or potentially damaged and a packed lunch. Drinks and biscuits will be provided. Sun cream will be both be provided and hopefully necessary. Tools and other equipment are also supplied by the Trust.

May

Updates of Childrens Activities

The Trust is currently compiling an e-mail list to inform people directly of childrens events and opportunities that we are running.If you would like to be added to this list then please email education@dwt.org.uk with your name and number. Please ensure that the title explains you wish to be added to the e-mail list.

Survival Skills (for children)

Looking for something to do on the 16th April (friday)? are your children aged 4 or over?

Why not join us on our survival skills event at the Pump House Environment Centre.

The activity runs from 10.30 -12 noon and will involve the children helping to make a real fire to boil water for a drink and also a shelter!


Booking is essential on 07970456002 or via email education@dwt.org.uk. Spaces are limited to 12 due to the nature of the event ( only 6 places left!) and parents must remain with the children. The activity costs £2 per child.

Please note that children need to be dressed in outside and  old clothes with suitable footwear (old trainers) or wellies.

Funding for schools!

Green School Awards

Schools that are currently undertaking environmental projects within the UK are being invited to enter the Green School Awards. The awards aim to assist education and understanding about environmental issues and target the 5-11 age group. Any work primary school children are already doing on the environment at your school is likely to be eligible for entry to the Green School Awards. The Awards can be entered by groups of up to 30 young people,

aged 5-11. (Groups of over 30 young people will be allowed to enter provided that they are in the same class). Groups can be classes, school clubs or teams created for the purpose of entering the TOTAL Green School Awards. There is no limit to the number of entries a school can submit. There are four award categories, each allowing group work on environmental topicsin a diverse range of subjects including Art, English, History, Mathematics, Science, Technology and Geography. The UK Champion will receive a prize of £5,000. There are also three prizes of £1,000 and twelve prizes of £500.

Eggciting Event (for children)

This Wednesday (7th April) there is an EGGCITING Art and Craft Activity session on at the Pump House from 10.30am until 12 noon.

Children aged 4 and up can attend but Booking is essential and parents must accompany the children.

  • OFFER- FREE Flooding Workshops for Schools!

    The Duckworth Worcestershire Trust is working in partnership with the Environment Agency to offer all schools Free Flooding workshops.The Workshop lasts about 40 minutes and can be done in school. To book please contact the Education officer at the Trust on 01905 734980.

    Volunteer Task Days 2010

    Happy New Year to you all!

    Assuming that the weather allows, our first task of 2010 will be held on the 13th January at Chapter Meadows in Worcester. We hope to continue with work we began last year, cutting back a hedge to prevent it encroaching any further on to the meadows. We intend to have a fire to burn the cuttings and to help keep everyone warm. Please bring a lunch, appropriate footwear and warm clothing. Hot drinks and biscuits will be provided.     Rubbish? Sort It! Litter Picks in Malvern

    Rubbish? Sort It! Litter Picks organised by the Duckworth Worcestershire Trust in conjunction with Malvern Hills District Council. Everyone welcome!

    10th October 11am-1pm

    Priory Lodge Hall

    Avenue Road, Malvern, WR14 3AF

    Meet at hall between 11am and 11.15am.

    Refreshments (hot drink and biscuits) will be provided to those that take part when we return to the hall.

    Bags and litter picking equipment will be supplied by the Duckworth Worcestershire Trust. High visibility vests will be provided.

    The litter pick will last for approximately an hour. Most of the route will be on surfaced paths and will include hills.

    Meet at the centre between 1pm – 1.15pm.
