Tree Dressing Weekend, which is always the first full weekend in December, marks the start of National Tree week. All over the nation, local and treasured trees will be dressed to celebrate the UK charity ‘Common Ground’s Tree Dressing weekend which aims to link communities to art and culture through nature.
In Gheluvelt Park our celebrations start on Friday 26th November at noon, in the Pump House Cafe, where we will be making tree dressings out of resources from Worcester’s Scrapstore-WRE. Our theme this year is ‘THE SKY’S THE LIMIT!’ and inspiration and resources will be provided.
It may be busy and seating will be limited so please be prepared to wait your turn whilst enjoying a slice of the locally sourced cake and a pot of fair trade tea (or coffee!).
Then the following week, on Friday 3rd December, the city council tree team will put up our decorations on the magnificent oak up in the formal part of the park, near the interpretive feature.
The workshop on November 26th will run from noon to 3pm and The team at the Duckworth Worcestershire Trust and the Worcester City Council Park Ranger Team look forward to seeing you there.
